How does Ultraviolet light water purification work? When bacteria, viruses, and other microorganisms are exposed to germicidal UV light they are inactivated and no longer pose a threat to human health. Ultraviolet light purification systems channel water past submerged ultraviolet lamps that emit destroying any pathogens.
